Sonodynamic therapy is the use of low level ultrasound, along with naturally derived sensitizers, to produce tumor destruction, especially cavitations in malignant cells.
The use of ultrasound allows deeper penetration for treatment of such tumors as those which may be located in the lungs and liver. Case studies, however, show equally effective results for breast cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, and skin originated cancers, such as melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
Ordinarily, the only side effects experienced will be a feeling of tiredness as the healing and detoxification processes take place. Ultrasound scans will be done at the beginning of treatment and will be done again at the end of the treatment. Some patients will have a dramatic and visual change in their tumor mass in a short period of time, while others may not see any immediate change.
